In this steamy — but not too steamy — guide, we're going to break down all of Geralt's potential love interests and how you can start a relationship with the likes of Yennefer and Triss. Geralt has two main romance options in The Witcher 3: Yennefer and Triss. Ultimately, only one of these sorceresses can be Geralt's partner by the time that you finish the game and its expansions.
However, there are a of other women that Geralt can become involved with — but these are short-term relationships at best. In this guide, we'll detail all of them and the impact that they have on the game if any. Below, you'll find a list of all romance options open to Geralt in The Witcher 3, along with everything that you'll need to do in order to begin or continue each relationship.
This guide is relatively spoiler free. We'll try not to spoil any specific story details.
How to find her house on the map
Geralt and Yennefer are already close right near the beginning of the game, but it's not until later on in the main story that you'll be able to solidify their love for one another. Once Geralt sails to Skellige, he'll be reunited with Yennefer in a cutscene that you can't miss. The quest eventually ends in a fight with a monster, and you'll be given a key dialogue choice.
Doing this will open up the Yennefer romance route.
After progressing through more of the main story in Skellige, Yen will ask Geralt to come see her on the isle of Larvik. This triggers an optional quest called 'The Last Wish'. At the end of this quest, you'll get another key dialogue choice. Doing this locks Yennefer in as Geralt's main love interest. Later on in the main story, at Kaer Morhen during the quest 'No Place Like Home', you'll be given another opportunity to hook up with Yen through a dialogue choice.
In the two Witcher games, Triss is Geralt's main romantic interest, but in The Witcher 3, the two haven't seen each other in a while. Geralt will be reunited with Triss in the city of Novigrad as part of the main story. Doing so opens up an optional quest called 'A Matter of Life and Death' which, admittedly, doesn't sound optional.
During this quest, you'll be presented with a key dialogue choice. This opens up the Triss romance route. Completing' A Matter of Life or Death' opens up another optional quest called 'Now or Never' a little later in the game.
Go see Triss again to trigger this quest. At the end of it, you'll be given another key dialogue choice. Doing this locks Triss in as Geralt's main love interest. If you lock both Yennefer and Triss in as Geralt's main love interest selecting key dialogue choice 2 in both romance routes — nothing else matters then we're sad to say that you'll ruin your chances with both of them.
How does romance work in the witcher 3?
Later on in the main story, Geralt will be ditched by both Yennefer and Triss — although you do get a pretty funny cutscene for your troubles. Keira isn't a main romance option for Geralt, but the two can enjoy a night together if that's what you want. Romancing Keira has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Geralt will meet with Keira as part of the main story in Velen.
After completing the main quest 'Wandering in the Dark', Keira will ask Geralt to come see her at her home. Visiting Keira will trigger an optional quest called 'A Towerful of Mice'.
Complete this quest to open up another optional quest called 'Favor for a Friend'. During this quest, Keira will present you with a key dialogue choice. This will lead to a scene where Geralt and Keira have a bit of fun under the moonlight.
Jutta is a romance option who can be found in Skellige. Geralt can enjoy a night with her if that's what you want. Romancing Jutta has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Jutta can be found on the isle of Faroe in Skellige. Talk to her and she'll give you a task this quest isn't always the same based on other tasks that you may have already completed.
This opens up an optional quest called 'Iron Maiden'. Complete Jutta's task and you'll get to fight her. Defeat her without using potions, bombs, or s, and she'll be grateful for the fair fight. She then asks you to meet at her home at night. Go to Jutta's home in the village of Harviken on Faroe. Speak to her and you'll be presented with a key dialogue choice.
Madame Sasha is a romance option who can be found in Novigrad later on in the game. Romancing Sasha has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Later on in the game, you'll come across an optional quest called 'High Stakes'.
It requires Geralt to enter a Gwent tournament at the Passiflora in Novigrad. Note that you'll need a reasonably strong Gwent deck in order to stand a good chance of winning the tournament. However, to romance Sasha you don't actually need to win. Either beat Sasha in a game of Gwent when you play her, or simply agree to help her. At the end of the quest, she'll ask you out to dinner.
Shani only appears in this expansion, and outside of Yennefer and Triss, she offers the most in-depth romance available in The Witcher 3. Romancing Shani has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Near the end of the main quest 'Dead Man's Party', choose to stick around.
Geralt will be tasked with bringing Shani a gift.
Give her the flowers, mead, or brandy, and you'll open up the opportunity to romance her. There's a slight difference in how the romance scene plays out if you bring her a drink.
Let's just say it's a little more tasteful if you give her the flowers. When you're on the beach with Shani, you'll be presented with a key dialogue choice. Syanna only appears in this expansion. While her romance route isn't quite as in-depth as Shani's, it still has more to offer than Geralt's other flings in the main game.
Romancing Syanna has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Choose to enter her, for lack of a better word, prison, and you'll meet up with her inside. Continue through this quest and near the end, after defeating a boss, Syanna will present you with a key dialogue choice. Outside of the individual romance options listed above, Geralt can also hit up three different brothels whenever he wants. In these brothels, Geralt can hire a prostitute of his choosing for a relatively low sum of gold. Doing Witcher 3 shanis house will present you with a steamy cutscene, and you can repeat this process as often as you like.
Hiring prostitutes has no impact on the rest of the game and the other romance options that Geralt can pursue. Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up.
When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3. Hold on there, you need to to post a comment Check out our other guides on The Witcher 3, and then battle it out over Yennefer or Triss in the comments section below.
